For men with advanced prostate cancer, the news for decades has been mostly bleak. Until recently, only two treatments had been shown to prolong survival. However, researchers have just indicated that a POTENTIALLY life-prolonging pill called Abiraterone for men with aggressive prostate cancer could be available within a year. This follows other recent news of two news therapies being approved for prostate cancer treatment, one bing Jevtana, a chemotherapy agent, and the other Provenge, a cancer vaccine, which marshals the immune system to fight the disease.
