LET’S get sceptical. Not cynical, just intellectually curious enough to probe underneath the surface of Kristy Fraser-Kirk’s $37 million claim against David Jones and its former chief executive Mark McInnes. Not to defend the retailer or McInnes. We may never know exactly what happened in this she said-he said dispute. But one thing is certain. This case warrants plenty of legitimate questions, no matter how uncomfortable that may be to some.

Who’s oppressing who?

In its earliest form – the political campaign to achieve equality under the law and equality in economic opportunities – feminism was a necessary and welcome reform movement. The feminism I take exception to today is not the mild and blameless right of a woman to share equally the cultural air we breathe, but the radical ideology that has come to dominate the movement’s academic and institutional elites over the last 40 years.

It’s Not Your Mother’s Fathers Movement Anymore

I’m a 40-something, independent, liberal, California single mother of four and grandmother to one, and I’m working within the Fathers Movement. This surprises some people. They must wonder why I’m championing these men if it’s true that ‘fathers who seek custody are not great fathers.’ That was the truth according to Mira Fox, who runs Child Abuse Solutions, Inc. when she testified in May against AB 1307, California’s shared parenting bill. Shared parenting, (joint physical custody), and this bill are supported by professionals in the legal, medical, and mental health fields and by family rights organizations, veterans groups and individuals all over California. People across the nation, and around the globe applauded our efforts on behalf of children, and I was proud to be in Sacramento that day. I watched Fox testifying and the picture she painted disturbed me.
